About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with Architecture on designing new features and capabilities for the OpenStack product
  • Research software, hardware, and other technologies to advance the private cloud portfolio
  • Optimize the cost, availability, performance, and developer experience of the OpenStack product
  • Validate new OpenStack releases through automated functional and performance testing
  • Integrate evolving security and compliance requirements into OpenStack product releases
  • Evolve and enhance deployment automation capabilities
  • Support the SRE team for L3 escalations
  • Partner with Architecture, SRE, and Portal teams to design, operate, and enable consumption of cloud services

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Advanced Linux knowledge and hands-on experience
  • Expertise in engineering processes, including requirements definition, testing, validation, configuration optimization, and production deployment
  • Systems thinking and ability to address complex interconnected problems
  • Data-driven decision-making skills
  • Experience with OpenStack deployments
  • Proficiency with Python or GoLang, including ability to write basic scripts/software
  • Experience writing Ansible playbooks
  • Prior knowledge of Git and peer-review workflow
  • Experience with CI/CD tools
  • Knowledge of testing tools and techniques
  • Experience managing servers, data centers, networking, and security
  • Prior experience with Ceph storage
  • Experience integrating components using APIs and SDKs
  • Prior contributions to open-source software
  • Demonstrable software engineering projects, such as a GitHub portfolio
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to learn and show initiative
  • Ability to participate actively in team meetings and provide accurate, complete status updates
  • Experience and enthusiasm for mentoring colleagues
  • AI and MML experience are a plus
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; applicants with coursework and experience or extensive related professional experience may also be considered
  • 7-10 years of relevant work experience
