About the role

  • Serves as a technical lead, providing guidance and mentorship to junior network engineers.
  • Leads the design and implementation of custom network solutions for existing and potential customers.
  • Follows best-practice industry standards to provide functional, scalable and secure network design.
  • Supports the Solutions Architect group to design, document and implement customer pilots and provide support for customer testing.
  • Provides network engineering support to Sales organization as required.
  • Provides Tier IV escalation support to Help Desk.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses and resolves customer network issues.
  • Recommends changes to remediate any network deficiencies to enhance network performance.
  • Researches, evaluates and provides recommendations for new hardware and software solutions.
  • Creates technical presentations as needed, presenting to various audiences.
  • Develops, documents and maintains processes and procedures related to design, implementation, maintenance and operations of various complex customer networks.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. Degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in network design, implementation, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of complex networks.
  • CCNP, JNCIP, FNCSP(NSE4), CCVP, CCSP Certification or equivalent on-the-job experience considered.
  • Strong working knowledge of various Vendor routers, switches, firewalls, SDWAN appliances and wireless devices to include; Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, Juniper, Aerohive, Mist and Cradlepoint
  • Strong understanding of networking technologies, SDWAN technologies and High Availability protocols such as; HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, IP Routing protocols to include; RIPv1, RIPv2, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, Policy Routing, Tunneling protocols to include; GRE, IPSec, DMVPN, IWAN, QOS, Traffic Policing and Shaping, ACLs, AAA, TACACS+, RADIUS, SNMP, DHCP, Switch VLANs, VTP, STP, Wireless Networking, Understanding of VoIP, SIP and PRI voice technologies.
  • Understanding of various network tools to include WhatsUp Gold, SolarWinds Orion, Cisco CCE, Cisco Prime, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, Wireshark or Netscout.
  • Understanding of various compliance requirements, to include, but not limited to, PCI DSS, HIPAA, SOC a plus.
  • Organized individual with the ability to manage multiple projects or tasks, while in a leadership or team member role.
  • Strong technical documentation skills, to include creating network diagrams, operations and maintenance procedures, and technical presentations.
  • Strong verbal skills, to include technical presentations to all levels of technical expertise.
