About the role
- Communicating database changes and impacts to stakeholders, providing recommendations and consulting on solutions
- Ensuring database hardware is optimized for performance, conduct capacity planning, and manage the implementation of new database systems
- Collaborating with Project Managers to design database solutions that align with project objectives and business needs

- Optimizing database systems for high availability and high-volume internet applications, performing regular maintenance and tuning
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
Requirements
- Experience with end-to-end database management experience, including installation, monitoring, performance tuning, backup/recovery, replication, and HA/DR solutions.
- Eager to expand expertise to new database technologies as required by FreeWheel’s evolving business needs
- Working knowledge of Linux/Unix systems (e.g., Rocky Linux, Red Hat, Debian, CentOS) is a plus.
- Familiar with cloud platforms, especially AWS or OCI.
- Comfortable working with geographically distributed systems across WAN environments.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, design, and build fault-tolerant systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal.
