About the role

  • Acts as point of contact for Employee Relations, legal and compliance issues.
  • Includes advising on discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, leaves and accommodation issues, as well as reorganizations and other sensitive employment matters.
  • Acts as escalation point for fair employment practices concerns raised through Comcast’s Open Door and Comcast Listens reporting channels.
  • Analyzes trends that may require training or other actions.
  • Partners with the Absence Management team to evaluate escalated leave and accommodation requests and recommend appropriate action.
  • Conducts legal research.
  • Identifies and implements Human Resources policy and process improvements.
  • Conducts training for Human Resources and leaders on employment law matters.
  • Works on various projects implicating employee relations concerns (evaluating pay practices, ensuring compliance with new state and local employment laws, implementation of broader company initiatives around employee data and AI use cases, etc.)
  • Provides guidance and advice to Human Resources on employee issues where the company interests are at risk.
  • Ensures Human Resources policies are reviewed and amended, as needed, based on changes to legislation and/or internal processes and practices.
  • Ensures positive and respectful work environment through positive reinforcement, modeling desired behavior, providing adequate work tools and administering policies fairly and consistently.
  • Oversees investigations and management of compliance matters related to FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII and other employment regulations.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance.
  • Must be able to travel periodically.

Requirements

  • JD from accredited law school
  • Member of California bar
  • 3-5+ years' experience practicing employment law, including wage and hour
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively engage with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Team-oriented and works well in a collaborative environment.
