About the role
- Gather data from different sources (like maps and satellite images) for specific regions to ensure complete data availability
- Investigate various sources of data, including free and paid options, and check for coverage, currency, and quality
- Use specialized tools (like GDAL and custom software) to clean, resize, and align data for team use
- Partner with AI/ML teams to supply diverse data for building machine learning models
- Collaborate with Pipeline and Product teams to ensure necessary data is available
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
- 3+ years of relevant industry experience in a fast paced, high growth tech environment.
- Experience with GIS modalities and formats such as orthoimagery (e.g. GeoTIFF), LiDAR (e.g. LAS/LAZ), vector data (e.g. ESRI Shapefiles, GeoJSON), elevation and terrain information such as DTM, DSM, and DEMs, landcover information.
- Basic scripting abilities (e.g., with Python) for rudimentary automation of common tasks and/or contributing to our existing tool palette.
