About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Interview and counsel members about first mortgage loans and take mortgage loan applications
  • Establish and maintain personal relationships with members
  • Guide and follow mortgage loans from initial application through loan closing
  • Determine applicants' qualifications
  • Provide detailed information about mortgage and equity loan products
  • Clarify complexities of the mortgage/equity loan process
  • Evaluate, personalize, and recommend financing alternatives
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with realtors, builders, and other centers of influence
  • Analyze referred loans and determine appropriate actions for areas of concern
  • Advise members on approved loan conditions and documentation requirements
  • Ensure required mortgage processing information and documentation is complete
  • Maintain contact with members, Realtors, and sellers throughout the loan process
  • Monitor mortgage loan processes for compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Remain available during scheduled evening hours and assigned days off, including weekends
  • Request and obtain required documentation and forward it to the Mortgage Processor
  • Conduct outside marketing and promotional activities through presentations, local events, and realtor/trade shows
  • Resolve operational and processing issues, inquiries, and complaints
  • Review applications for completeness, data integrity, and accuracy

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with automated systems
  • Experience in the mortgage lending industry
  • Working knowledge of mortgage lending requirements, regulations, and procedures for VA and conventional loan programs
  • Working knowledge of mortgage/equity loan processing, closing, documentation requirements, and regulations
  • Required to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry before assuming employment duties, including fingerprinting and background checks
  • Advanced skill in comprehending, analyzing, applying, and communicating complex written legal documents
  • Advanced skill speaking and/or presenting in front of groups in a professional setting
  • Advanced word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal Mortgage Production and/or Servicing Systems is desired
  • Availability Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, plus scheduled evening and assigned days-off coverage
