About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, implement, maintain, and improve Navy Federal mainframe systems.
Configure and troubleshoot unique operating systems and obsolete tools.
Ensure the smooth operation of our systems and develop new features and functionality to support business needs.
Work independently to interpret and develop solutions to complex business challenges that have a significant impact on the function or branch.
Lead the design and implementation of complex mainframe solutions, and maintain mainframe applications – TPHOST programs.
Establish the technical direction of mainframe development and architecture, aligning with organizational goals.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot problems.
Document and update system procedures and provide support and training to end users.
Develop and test new software and system updates.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mainframe engineering and application development.
Subject matter expert within business area/specialization with understanding of interrelationships of different disciplines.
Subject matter expert in Fidelity Information Systems (FIS) and Systematics Core banking application (GN, RM, ST, IMPACS, ALS, etc).
Experience using Changeman.
Comprehensive understanding of data dictionaries, copybooks, and parms.
Advanced knowledge of mainframe systems, unique operating systems, and obsolete programming tools and languages.
Advanced knowledge with mainframe systems, Assembler, COBOL, JCL, and databases such as DB2.
Advanced knowledge of z/OS system software, subsystems, and utilities.
Significant experience in delivering large-scale mainframe projects.
Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
