About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve Navy Federal mainframe systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot unique operating systems and obsolete tools.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of our systems and develop new features and functionality to support business needs.
  • Work independently to interpret and develop solutions to complex business challenges that have a significant impact on the function or branch.
  • Lead the design and implementation of complex mainframe solutions, and maintain mainframe applications – TPHOST programs.
  • Establish the technical direction of mainframe development and architecture, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot problems.
  • Document and update system procedures and provide support and training to end users.
  • Develop and test new software and system updates.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mainframe engineering and application development.
  • Subject matter expert within business area/specialization with understanding of interrelationships of different disciplines.
  • Subject matter expert in Fidelity Information Systems (FIS) and Systematics Core banking application (GN, RM, ST, IMPACS, ALS, etc).
  • Experience using Changeman.
  • Comprehensive understanding of data dictionaries, copybooks, and parms.
  • Advanced knowledge of mainframe systems, unique operating systems, and obsolete programming tools and languages.
  • Advanced knowledge with mainframe systems, Assembler, COBOL, JCL, and databases such as DB2.
  • Advanced knowledge of z/OS system software, subsystems, and utilities.
  • Significant experience in delivering large-scale mainframe projects.
  • Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
