About the role
- Track and assess federal and state legislative and regulatory developments affecting credit unions, financial services, and consumer protection
- Analyze operational activities and issues relating to the interpretation and impact of laws, rules, and regulations
- Provide timely updates and policy impact assessments to business units and senior leadership
- Prepare written and oral analyses, briefing memos, and reports to support internal decision-making and advocacy efforts
- Coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), complaints, and other inquiries from government entities
- Maintain systems for tracking business unit requests, lobbying activity (e.g., Lobby Hours), and policy engagement metrics
- Work closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, and other internal teams to ensure consistent and informed policy communication
- Advise appropriate managers and supervisors on findings related to legislative and regulatory developments
- Assist senior management on public policy matters by preparing research papers, white papers, talking points, and other communications
- Maintain liaison with external groups and represent Navy Federal in external meetings as appropriate
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in business or public administration, operations analysis, legal studies, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in public policy, legislative affairs, regulatory analysis, or compliance-related roles
- Thorough understanding of legislative and regulatory processes at the federal and state levels
- Strong knowledge of compliance issues affecting financial services and credit unions
- Familiarity with project management and operations analysis principles
- Experience researching and analyzing complex laws, regulations, legal opinions, and operational impacts
- Demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate complex issues both verbally and in writing
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with internal teams and representing organizational positions externally
- Ability to lead and manage projects and coordinate cross-functional initiatives
- Proven ability to work independently on multiple issues concurrently and prioritize effectively
- Sound judgment and decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Advanced degree (e.g., MPA, JD, MA in Public Policy) preferred
- Working knowledge of Department of Defense operational and support
