About the role

  • Assisting analysts/examiners during investigations with various tasks
  • Learn to use leading cybersecurity operations technical solutions and analytic methods
  • Help manage team cadences and ensure ideation to implementation pipeline is current
  • Help manage team knowledgebase and ensure compliance with process maps
  • Collaborate with team members to support partnerships and cross-functional objectives
  • Contribute to the development of new detection content
  • Communicate emerging trends, countermeasures and, and technologies through continuous learning and professional development
  • Help craft relevant playbooks and test/validate processes
  • Assist in the case management process
  • Assist with Digital Forensics processes (e.g. chain of custody, lab management, software inventory, etc.)
  • Be exposed to trends in cyber incidents, computer forensics, cyber security investigative techniques
  • Access and learn from experts/innovators in the field of investigations and analysis
  • Learn about data analysis and the underlying analytic process necessary to develop investigative objectives and test hypotheses
  • Learn about the relationships within a cybersecurity operations center and to external partners
  • Learn about cybersecurity and human risk and how organizations reduce the potential impact of that risk
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a cybersecurity, criminal forensics, or data science (or related) degree program at an accredited university
  • Must be currently enrolled in college level courses or a degree-seeking program throughout the duration of the internship; upload transcripts to Intern Proof of Enrollment
  • Basic cybersecurity and IT knowledge
  • Basic scripting knowledge (Python, R, Java, or similar)
  • Knowledge of commercial cybersecurity software and applications (Splunk, EnCase, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data science/machine learning tools (Tableau, R, SQL, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently on projects and issues while adhering to policy guidelines
  • Possess a flexible, team-oriented approach to work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability work with individuals across the organization
  • Ability to deal tactfully, courteously, and professionally with customers and peers
  • Excellent critical, creative, and analytical thinking skills
  • Computer proficiency (hardware and software) and ability to maximize applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
