About the role
- Conduct a three-month research experiment and present results at end of summer
- Investigate phishing sites and analyze phish kits or infrastructure commonalities
- Build machine learning models to categorize/classify deep and dark web threats
- Investigate emerging threats from stablecoins and cryptocurrencies related to 2025 policy changes
- Retrieve, analyze, and validate data and test accuracy of reported results
- Analyze open source, DDW and internal-to-NFCU member data to understand, predict and identify opportunities to improve member security
- Develop and present proposals on findings to management up to and including senior executives
- Collaborate with teams across Navy Federal to innovate and automate protections against threats
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a graduate degree in Computer Forensics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or other related degree
- Applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university with an anticipated graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Familiarity with the concepts of social engineering, phishing, credential harvesting or other threat intelligence relevant to financial insititutions
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
- Ability to exercise initiative and good judgment to make sound decisions
- Ability to adapt to new technologies
- Effective organizational, planning, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM
- Location options include Vienna, VA; Pensacola, FL; Winchester, VA
