About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide electronic trading risk subject matter expertise to oversee and enhance the global risk and control framework
- Review and assess adherence to electronic trading policies
- Run and improve the algorithm lifecycle, automated control lifecycle, and e-platform lifecycle
- Ensure electronic and algorithmic trading is well governed and controlled
- Investigate and respond to electronic trading risk issues, internal reviews, and regulatory inquiries
- Support the Electronic Trading Risk Committee and e-trading governance structure
- Design and help develop analytical tools to monitor and manage electronic trading risks
- Conduct design and control effectiveness testing of pre- and post-trade controls
- Monitor control trigger alerts and escalate alerts to traders for resolution
- Drive transformation deliverables to demanding timelines and provide progress updates and risk escalations
- Deliver regulatory remediation in the electronic trading space
- Identify, log, and mitigate operational, conduct, reputational, regulatory, and technology risks
- Assist Internal Audit reviews of the relevant control landscape
- Advise business heads on refining the electronic trading operating model
- Review design specifications, test cases, and test scripts; write final assessment reports
- Review inherent and residual risk assessments for key Markets risks
- Support the population of the algorithm inventory and record best-practice control descriptions
- Ensure successful onboarding of new venues and Trading GUIs
- Review and assess Trading GUI controls, including the appropriateness of limits
Requirements
What you’ll need- Operational experience within an electronic trading business
- Knowledge of financial services risk and control at different organisational levels
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
- Proven expertise in risk management and project management within an investment bank or top-tier consultancy
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to interpret complex data
- Knowledge of SQL would be beneficial
- Knowledge of Python would be beneficial
- Strong understanding of electronic and algorithmic trading, market microstructure, and trading controls
- Experience in risk management, control testing, and governance within a trading environment
- Ability to analyse data, interpret control alerts, and recommend actionable solutions
- Strong knowledge of regulatory expectations around electronic trading, including MiFID II, MAR, and PRA SS5/18
- Proven delivery experience in change, remediation, or transformation programmes
