About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Engineer infrastructure technology for public and private cloud environments
- Comply with security, resilience, sustainability, and operational requirements
- Use automation to provide testing and a route to live for the product
- Work with customers to help them use products appropriately through a users’ CI or CD pipeline
- Collaborate with colleagues to share engineering best practices
- Manage the selection, creation, and maintenance of technologies to meet customer needs, strategic targets, and architecture outcomes
- Develop products using modern engineering practices and tools
- Collaborate with stakeholders to inform product roadmaps
- Support engineered products, respond to user feedback, and resolve production issues
- Develop technical skills through continuous learning and development
- Design intuitive, self-service infrastructure products
- Contribute to the delivery of infrastructure as code solutions
- Provide operational support for pattern or product related issues
- Generate innovative ideas and drive the delivery of those through product features.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience in software development or automation scripting such as Python or Shell
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Experience in utilizing modern infrastructure as code via tooling
- Strong understanding of IBM Z hardware infrastructure, including DASD, SAN/FICON connectivity and network infrastructure
- Experience using Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) to implement and manage hardware configuration changes within multi-site, multi-sysplex environments
- Strong understanding of GDPS architectures and operations, including processor management, DASD replication, virtual tape technologies and disaster recovery automation
- Working knowledge of the development of CI or CD pipelines using modern tooling
- Experience of using observability tools and techniques
- Public cloud vendor knowledge covering GCP, AWS and Azure
- Experience of working with technology deployed to an on premise datacentre.
