Full-stack Engineer

• Own the full lifecycle of features from concept through to deployment and monitoring in production
• Design and implement complex solutions using Go/Python and build user interfaces using React and TypeScript
• Design and deliver scalable, cloud-based microservices (REST, GraphQL) while leveraging AI
• Work with complex data estates, utilizing Neo4j, NoSQL, and relational databases
• Collaborate closely with Engineers, Data Scientists, Bioinformaticians, and Product Managers
• Focus on customer feedback and iterate rapidly based on usage data

Backend Engineer

• Focus on delivery: Rapidly provide back-end solutions for our biodiversity data platform to budget and timelines.
• Be a self-starter: Design complex solutions around our data estate that support our product goals.
• Build with modern paradigms : Be comfortable delivering microservices architecture (API, GraphQL), and leverage AI to get things done
• Bring your data guru: You will embrace Neo4j, NoSQL and relational databases.
• Build/integrate our identity platform for various applications for Single Sign-On.
• Be cross-functional: Work closely with our ML engineers to build pipelines for our AI driven products.
• Prepare to mentor: Work closely with bioinformatics data scientists to develop cloud-first data pipelines.
• KTLO: Help to maintain our infrastructure on AWS/Azure/GCP and take ownership of documentation supporting this.

Software Engineer – Back-End

• Define and implement engineering best practice: Lead the establishment and implementation of robust software development best practices.
• Mentor and enable the team: Develop and deliver training to enable other team members to perform a broader range of software development operations, increasing team autonomy and empowering individuals to take ownership of key initiatives.
• Drive architectural simplicity and reliability: Champion a philosophy of architectural simplicity and proactively identify and address technical debt.
• Foster a culture of ownership and product/end-user awareness: Lead the team to take full ownership of their software from development to deployment and monitoring, promoting a product mindset that prioritises client needs.
• Champion engineering as a key driving force for growth: Build cross-functional relationships and understand business needs to problem-solve and enable teams to move quickly.
• Proactively communicate progress, concerns, and challenges to the wider team and stakeholders.
• Foster a culture of tech utilisation and AI adoption within the engineering team.
• Inform roadmap and prioritisation: Stay abreast of innovation in the sector, highlighting new opportunities to streamline and accelerate roadmaps, and extend our product offering.
