About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform work consistent with NYAP’s mission, values, and philosophies
- Complete required training
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies for viable licensed foster homes
- Support potential foster parents in understanding youth needs, mentoring primary families, and reunification goals
- Recruit new foster families with current, former, and prospective foster parents
- Implement foster care rules, regulations, and policies
- Conduct face-to-face meetings with potential families within the first two weeks
- Assist families with required information and licensing paperwork
- Help foster parents overcome licensing barriers
- Develop and submit comprehensive home studies for approval
- Maintain and update foster home records
- Provide ongoing training and support to licensed foster homes
- Complete annual evaluations and recertification
- Support foster parents through information, education, meetings, support groups, and one-on-one discussions
- Travel as needed to provide community-based services to youth and families
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities
- Participate in weekly supervision
- Report incidents to state and supervisory agencies when appropriate
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution
- KY SAFE home certification or NTDC training preferred
- 2 years of direct-service work with youth and families strongly preferred
- Willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours
- Ability to recruit and train foster parents and perform licensing duties
- Flexibility and responsiveness to youth, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers
- Ability to remain objective and professional
- Ability to work respectfully and sensitively with people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds
- Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation
- Good driving record
- Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
