Develops and makes recommendations for enhancements and/or revisions of online materials, delivery methods, and instructional practices
Conducts initial needs assessment and content analysis as part of the collaboration with the SEC leadership and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
Authors original content and modifies existing materials in partnership with leadership and SMEs (Children’s Museum, portal transitions, Fundraising Academy)
Creates design documents (outlines, storyboards, design mockups, etc.) to guide content, courses, and curriculum development process
Designs successful assessments and evaluation methods and presents documentation for evaluation decisions
Work with Content team leaders and Technology team to finalize key features and a structure for the format of modules and courses
Use knowledge of specific audiences for modules and courses to recommend appropriate language and voice
Offer suggestions for content items as it relates to presentation in a multimedia format
Plans, conceptualizes, and organizes multimedia and design projects, e.g. storyboard engaging and interactive multimedia ideas
Designs and provides recommendations for custom multimedia activities and other engaging content, course, and curriculum elements
Conducts training and coaching on best practices for online design
Make note of any errors on the Harmony online portal content and design and implement backend solutions for portal errors
Perform LMS Administrator duties including course creation, duplication, user account creation, user enrollments, and implementation of newly released features
Attend content check-ins to ensure consistency and adhere to tight timelines for delivery
Acts as an eLearning expert in discovery meetings that pertain to the design and development of content, courses, and curriculum
Consults and contributes on new innovative products to facilitate the growth of educational initiatives
Facilitates in incorporating digital media elements in the online learning platform
Participate in project management meetings as needed
Translate content into learning activities and assignments, using adult learning principles and instructional design best practices
Create learning activities and assignments that are engaging and useful for users
Ensure that assessments and assignments are aligned with the appropriate rigor based on the course numbers that they are aligned to within National University
Partner with the Content team to ensure course design aligns with the Academy’s goals and mission
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage the creation, revision and/or customization of content, courses, and curriculum
Coordinate with marketing team to produce both internal and client-facing content for all programs
Create and maintain sales enablement resources (field guides, product feature maps, instructional documents and videos)

Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, or related field required
Master’s degree preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant instructional design experience required
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in adult learning, preferably within educational publishing required
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
Project Management experience preferred
Experience in educational publishing preferred
Experience in higher education preferred
Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred
Knowledge and understanding of the academic environment within PK-12 education contexts for teachers and leaders
Content knowledge of social and emotional learning
Analytical and strong organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written ability
Preference given to candidates with a background in copyediting or training or experience in technical writing
Able to manage multiple priorities and has flexibility to adapt to changing business needs
Strong attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up
Exceptional organizational and time management skills with attention to time constraints for deadlines
Knowledge of D2L administration or course building; Articulate, Camtasia, or other rapid authoring tools or software, multimedia development or editing, graphics design or development
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individual of constituencies in a diverse community
Working knowledge, principles and practices of office management/systems within a higher education environment, preferred
Familiarity with theoretical and practical project management best practices and tool
Familiarity with web design best practices, or basic HTML experience, or other technical skills that demonstrate strong quality control ability and eye for detail
