About the role

  • The Academic and Finance Advisor (AFA) serves as a student’s key point of contact, providing in-depth, quality service to students from the time they enter the first course until they graduate. Provide academic and financial support via phone, email, text, and chat. Provide policy information and assistance throughout the student's educational time with the University. Support students’ financial aid questions and funding throughout the program. Identify at-risk students and educate/motivate for progress to graduation. Responsible for operating tasks measured by retention, account balances, and task completion. Maintain tasks/responsibilities for student load set by leadership. Perform daily operating tasks assigned by Associate Director or systems. Monitor student degree plans and course schedules for compliance. Assist students with changes to course of study. Monitor academic progress per Satisfactory Academic Progress guidelines. Monitor receivable balances; recommend lockouts/dismissals for financial reasons. Maintain reasonable outstanding balances and perform collection efforts. Attend required team meetings and trainings; adjust schedule as necessary. Provide professional support to escalated students. Participate in department or special projects. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in advising, customer service or related is required. Experience in student services or training and development in a collegial setting is preferred. Experience working in a fast-paced customer/student-centric position preferred. Experience in higher education preferred. Experience working in a technology-driven enterprise preferred. All skills, abilities and education will be considered for minimum qualifications.
