About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage and coordinate temporary staffing needs primarily through locum tenens provider needs across NPH’s anesthesia divisions, serving as the primary liaison between locum agencies and internal teams to ensure seamless gap coverage while driving organizational staffing strategies, cost containment being top priority.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for locum tenens agencies, managing all communication and coordination related to gap coverage needs across NPH’s anesthesia divisions.
  • Partner with VP/SVP of Operations, regional clinical leaders, scheduling and recruiting teams to identify locum coverage needs, define scope, and communicate requirements to locum agencies in a timely manner.
  • Manage and maintain the locum provider schedule, tracking week-by-week coverage, identifying gaps, and proactively working with agencies to secure providers for uncovered periods.
  • Drive temporary staffing strategies such as overall rate reductions, faster schedule commitments, flexibility to modify arrangements and stimulating buyouts where advantageous.
  • Coordinate the handoff of locum providers between agency bookings, ensuring continuity of coverage when individual locums can only commit to partial periods.
  • Facilitate the onboarding process for locum providers, including working with NPH recruiters to ensure all required applications, licensure, credentialing, and enrollment materials are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Assist credentialing and enrollment teams in chasing down outstanding documentation from locum providers or their agencies to prevent delays in billing eligibility.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all active locum engagements, agency contacts, provider details, and scheduling status in company systems and databases.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with multiple locum tenens agencies to ensure NPH has access to a robust pipeline of qualified anesthesia providers.
  • Coordinate with facility administration and on-site contacts to facilitate smooth locum provider arrivals, orientation, and scheduling integration.
  • Track and report on open locum coverage windows, agency performance, and overall locum utilization to the SVP of Integration on a regular basis.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College Degree required or equivalent working background
  • 4+ years of experience in locum tenens coordination, healthcare staffing, physician/provider recruiting, or a related healthcare operations role required
  • Prior experience working with locum tenens agencies or anesthesia/surgical staffing strongly preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with applicant tracking systems or staffing databases preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open coverage windows and agency relationships simultaneously.
  • High level interpersonal and business communication skills; must be able to work effectively with executives, operations leaders, agency partners, and onsite facility staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize competing deadlines, and problem-solve scheduling gaps with urgency and professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through; able to track and manage documentation requirements across multiple providers and agencies.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented, and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
