About the role
- Document the data schema, data flows, and business rules of current legacy database.
- Develop export templates and data maps aligned to future SaaS requirements.
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, and GIS to understand data dependencies.
- Support the development and implementation of NFF’s forthcoming conservation investment data system.
- Serve as a liaison between Conservation Operations team and technical implementation partners.
- Oversee system structure for tracking grants, contracts, and project-related data including timelines, deliverables, and milestones.
- Contribute to defining data structures, workflows, and reporting needs for the new system.
- Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and security across all system components.
- Support system development once the new platform is selected.
- Coordinate user acceptance testing, configuration validation, and staff training prior to and through go-live.
- Collaborate across the organization to integrate the system with NFF’s ERP, CRM, GIS, and financial systems.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and best practices in grant and contract data management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience managing data systems related to grants, contracts, or project management, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; equivalent experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Highly data fluent along with technical proficiency with systems integration and IT.
- Demonstrated experience in system implementation, data architecture, and process improvement.
- Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Access, Azure, Oracle, or similar relational databases, including SQL, relationships, forms, macros, and VBA.
- Strong knowledge of Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, or equivalent systems.
- Familiarity with nonprofit grant and contract management, including compliance and reporting requirements.
- Experience with grantmaking and/or contract management systems preferred.
- Experience preparing legacy systems for migration to SaaS or cloud platforms preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
