About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Play a leading role in the annual budgeting process for NDWAs 501(c)(3), collaborating with program and development teams to align financial strategy with organizational priorities.
- Provide quarterly financial forecasts, budget variance analyses, and multi-year financial models to support strategic planning.
- Support the VP, Finance and leadership team in developing financial strategies that ensure long-term sustainability for NDWAs charitable mission.
- Ensure strong internal financial policies are in place and aligned with nonprofit best practices and GAAP compliance.
- Manage financial tracking, reporting, and compliance for government, foundation, and private grants, ensuring funds are allocated correctly.
- Monitor restricted vs. unrestricted funding, ensuring proper fund release and financial reporting for grantors.
- Supports timely month-end and year-end close processes for NDWAs 501(c)(3).
- Supports compliance with IRS regulations, nonprofit financial reporting requirements, and audit readiness.
- Supervise finance staff supporting NDWAs 501(c)(3) operations.
- Partner with program, development, and executive leadership teams to provide financial guidance and oversight.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of experience in nonprofit financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience in grant management, budget planning, and financial compliance for 501(c)(3) organizations.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit audit requirements, and financial reporting for funders.
- Proficiency in Excel, Financial Edge, Martus, Salesforce, and other accounting systems.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
