About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform general maintenance of resident units and common areas, including carpentry, painting, and general repairs
  • Prepare vacant units for move-in through painting, cleaning, and carpet cleaning
  • Perform and arrange scheduled preventative maintenance and cleaning
  • Complete inspections, tests, work orders, and maintenance logs and records
  • Maintain security systems, fire alarms, and door locks
  • Take assigned on-call duties
  • Assist and direct outside service personnel, vendors, and service providers
  • Perform landscaping and maintain grounds, parking lots, driveways, walkways, and dumpster areas
  • Clean common areas and bathrooms and remove trash
  • Report major repairs, maintenance needs, complaints, and compliance concerns to supervisors
  • Maintain effective working relationships with residents, coworkers, management, vendors, and service providers
  • Complete required training, records, and reports
  • Ensure residents and staff are treated with respect and dignity and adhere to resident rights, fair housing laws, safety practices, and applicable regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One to two years of maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of janitorial equipment and maintenance procedures
  • Good mechanical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate professionally with others
  • Attention to detail and strong organization
  • Working knowledge of computer or tablet software
  • Good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand data and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic and measurements
  • Ability to communicate and understand English
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet National Church Residences’ motor vehicle policy
  • Ability and means to travel on a flexible schedule as needed
  • Proof of liability and property damage insurance for vehicle used
