About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review of patient and reproductive partner’s personal medical/reproductive history and family history
- Genetic risk assessment and explanation of genetic risks identified
- Offering of relevant and appropriate testing options
- Discussion of benefits, risks, and limitations of testing
- Documentation of session
- Call-out of results and appropriate follow-up
- Answer health care provider inquiries
- Assist in development and improvement of GC protocols, SOPs, systems, and patient education materials
- Write or collaborate on abstracts or papers
- Support Natera teams including lab genetic counselors, medical science liaisons, marketing, product, and others
- Obtain and maintain GC licensure in states offering licensure as assigned
- Represent company at trade shows and medical conferences; Deliver presentations at scientific meetings and company promotional events (<10% travel)
- Complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training, and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire
- Maintain current status on Natera training requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling or equivalent degree
- Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling or the American Board of Medical Genetics
- Two or more years of clinical genetic counseling experience
