About the role
- Define and execute cloud engineering strategy aligned with overall cloud and SaaS product goals
- Implement Infrastructure-As-Code (IaC), DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines to automate and optimize cloud operations and software delivery
- Identify and implement product performance metrics, proactive optimization strategies, and establish observability and KPIs for continuous improvement
- Partner on operations practices for cloud cost management and forecasting, manage departmental budget, and optimize resource allocation including oversight of third-party vendors and outsourced engineering work
- Lead and develop engineering teams, manage multiple concurrent projects, and oversee talent management (recruitment, coaching, performance evaluation, succession planning)
- Partner and collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, and cross-functional teams to integrate cloud solutions into SaaS offerings
- Champion innovation and the adoption of emerging technologies, methodologies, and best practices in cloud software development
- Direct cloud-based software engineering across the full development lifecycle, including end-to-end release management to ensure efficient, reliable delivery of cloud products
- Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and standards for high-quality software products, including disaster recovery, backup, and data protection
Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering
- 5 years in leadership roles
- Strong understanding of cloud security, data architecture, compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC 2), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Demonstrated success in SaaS or product-driven organizations
- Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), CI/CD, DevOps, and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Track record of leading modernization initiatives across legacy and cloud environments, including AI/ML integration
- Understanding and knowledge of multi-cloud strategies and hybrid architectures
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cloud Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience
- Certification in software engineering - AWS Certified Developer
- Familiarity with FinOps and cloud cost optimization tools (CloudHealth, AWS Cost Explorer)
