About the role
- Develop and maintain a cloud-based biocompound discovery platform.
- Design and implement data flows from internal and external sources.
- Utilize AI and machine learning techniques to integrate and analyze multi-omics data and relate it to functional properties of molecules.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in software engineering, platform technologies, and AI/ML to continuously improve the platform.
- Ensure the platform is scalable, secure, and user-friendly.
- Collaborate with biologists, chemists, cheminformaticians, bioinformaticians, and data scientists to incorporate their insights into the platform.
- Identify and develop discovery services for customers, leading to paid collaboration projects or licensing opportunities for discovered compounds.
- Integrate data and learning from high-throughput validations in the laboratory environment into the platform.
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-stack software development experience with an interest in biological data, biotechnology, bioinformatics, cheminformatics, or related fields.
- Proven experience as a software developer and product owner in complex B2B software or services within an agile (Scrum) environment.
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or C++.
- Proficiency in data engineering and database maintenance using tools such as SQL, Databricks, Airflow, Nextflow, and ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data analysis libraries (Pandas, NumPy).
- Experience developing and deploying algorithms, particularly those handling biological or chemical datasets.
- Experience integrating AI/ML and LLM models to annotate unstructured biological data and link it into a knowledge graph (e.g., Neo4j).
- Experience with cloud technologies such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure, and with containerization tools like Docker.
- Knowledge of development tools and version control systems, particularly Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or GitLab.
- (Optional) Familiarity with data visualization libraries (Plotly, Matplotlib, or Bokeh).
- (Optional) Familiarity with bioinformatics workflows, data standards (e.g., FASTA, GenBank, SDF), and biological databases.
