About the role

  • Support the organization in ensuring full compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, contributing to risk mitigation, governance, and the development of policies and procedures that safeguard the company’s operations.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures aligned with applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical standards across all jurisdictions where the company operates or intends to operate.
  • Lead regulatory mapping and legal due diligence for new markets, ensuring the organization meets all requirements to operate legally in each jurisdiction (e.g., licensing, consumer protection, travel regulations, data protection, financial compliance).
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate corporate risks across operational, legal, financial, and reputational dimensions, proposing preventive measures and mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to the travel, tourism, and digital platform sectors, ensuring internal processes and policies remain compliant and proactively adapting the organization to regulatory changes.
  • Conduct internal audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments, reporting key findings, recommendations, and mitigation plans to senior leadership.
  • Coordinate due diligence and compliance checks for partners, suppliers, technology providers, and commercial partners to ensure adherence to internal policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual standards.
  • Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, external auditors, and supervisory bodies, ensuring timely responses and full compliance with regulatory obligations.
  • Prepare, review, and submit mandatory filings, reports, and regulatory documentation required by competent authorities (e.g., Banco de Portugal, Turismo de Portugal, consumer protection authorities, and equivalent bodies in other jurisdictions).
  • Provide legal guidance on international expansion initiatives, including licensing models, commercial structures, partnerships, and operational frameworks.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, supplier contracts, partnership agreements, and compliance-related documentation.
  • Work closely with Legal, Finance, HR, Technology, and Operations teams to ensure company processes, systems, and operational workflows are aligned with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Support the Booking and Operations teams in the legal assessment and resolution of complex customer complaints, ensuring responses are compliant with consumer protection laws and contractual obligations.
  • Investigate potential breaches of internal policies, regulatory requirements, or ethical standards, leading internal investigations and implementing corrective or preventive measures where necessary.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and legal awareness across the organization through training sessions, guidance materials, and continuous support to operational teams.

Requirements

  • Degree in Law (mandatory)
  • Postgraduate studies or specialization in Compliance, Corporate Law, Regulatory Law, or Risk Management are valued.
  • 2–4 years of experience in legal, compliance, regulatory, or risk management roles (experience in travel, fintech, digital platforms, or regulated industries is a plus).
  • Knowledge of corporate compliance frameworks, regulatory obligations, and risk management practices.
  • Familiarity with regulatory research and legal analysis, including the ability to interpret legislation and regulatory requirements across different jurisdictions.
  • Experience in drafting, reviewing, and interpreting legal documentation, contracts, and internal policies.
  • Understanding of data protection and consumer protection frameworks (e.g., GDPR) is considered an advantage.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies, audits, or compliance reporting is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear guidance for operational teams.
  • Fluent in English and Portuguese (written and spoken); additional languages are considered an advantage.
  • Proactive mindset, autonomy, and strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
