About the role
- Assist and communicate with the HR Manager on day-to-day operations
- Perform all phases of the payroll processing cycle and maintain payroll records for all assigned companies, internal and external
- Conduct onboarding and offboarding in the HRIS
- Meet with new hires to provide training on the HRIS self-service portal and meet with departing employees to conduct exit interviews
- Ensure the HRIS captures all relevant data for employee profiles and payroll (wage changes, benefit enrollments, retirement elections, deductions, taxes, etc)
- Prepare reports, forms, audits, and surveys on a routine basis and as requested
- Maintain employee handbook, recommending modifications where appropriate
- Ensure timely distribution of changes to all employees
- Stay informed of local, state and federal regulations for all states where the company employs personnel
- Maintain payroll compliance with all applicable rules, including completion of required filings
- Participate in numerous annual audits
- Provide support and guidance to employees for all human resources related needs, including pay, benefits, retirement plan, taxes, leave of absence, etc
- Monitor employee morale and company culture
- Recommend employee programs to achieve work/life balance
- Communicate with various stakeholders: retirement plan representatives, benefit brokers, software providers, external auditors, taxing authorities, etc
- Provide support across the human resources department.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years' experience preferred
- Working knowledge of automated payroll systems and understanding of current payroll and human resources practices
- ADP experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including fluency with excel formulas
- Ability to prioritize multiple complex tasks with accuracy and meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive and personal matters
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Efficient written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate computer equipment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel when necessary.
