Salary

About the role

  • Lead technical execution hands-on: Contribute to the codebase alongside your team (30-40% of your time), set the technical bar for enterprise-grade security products, and own the quality of what ships—because enterprise customers don't get second chances on trust
  • Ship the security roadmap: Deliver DLP policy management and real-time SIEM integrations in your first 6-12 months, working backward from what CISOs actually need to approve Mural for their organizations
  • Build a team with clear ownership: Define Enterprise Security's identity as a product area, establish the metrics that matter (adoption, deal win rate, ARR from security SKUs), and create the roadmap that keeps enterprise customers buying and renewing
  • Partner deeply with Product: Work as a true peer with your PM—no handoffs or waterfalls. You'll shape what gets built based on technical feasibility and customer signal, and you'll own the final call on what goes to production
  • Maintain enterprise-grade operational excellence: Ensure your services meet the audit, compliance, and uptime expectations that enterprise customers demand—because security features that go down undermine the trust they're supposed to create

Requirements

  • Enterprise security product experience (required): You've built security capabilities for CISO and IT admin personas before—DLP, SIEM integrations, access controls, audit logging, or similar. You understand the buyer, the compliance landscape, and why "good enough" doesn't exist in this space
  • Deep technical expertise: 5+ years shipping production code, ideally with Node.js/TypeScript and React, though we welcome strong engineers from other modern stacks who learn fast. You can credibly lead technical decisions and stay close enough to the work to catch problems early
  • Engineering leadership experience: 2+ years managing a team of at least 3 engineers, with a track record of building high-performing teams that ship complex products—not just features
  • Outcome-oriented and experimental with AI: You're either already using AI tools throughout the development lifecycle or eager to make them core to how you and your team work. This isn't optional at Mural—but we'll meet you where you are if the intent is there
  • Ownership and pathfinding: You take full accountability for your team's outcomes and can create clarity for your engineers even when the path forward isn't fully mapped. You define the metrics that matter and drive toward them
  • Remote-first fluency: You default to async communication, work in public (Slack, docs, Mural boards), and know how to build team cohesion without relying on hallway conversations
Benefits
  • Equal Opportunity We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
  • To ensure a thoughtful application process, we've set a limit of 2 applications per 60 days across all open roles at Mural. This helps us review each application carefully and allows you to focus on the positions that best match your skills and interests.
