About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Book, interview, classify and process adults in custody (AIC) into jail.
- Conduct searches of AIC.
- Count, control and monitor AIC movement and activity in housing units, modules, cells and open dormitory settings.
- Monitor suicidal AIC to determine if they require suicidal watch and provide counseling and coordination of medical services.
- Conduct security and welfare checks and connect AIC with mental health services.
- Escort AIC to areas and events within the institution, court appearances, personal interviews, medical care and other institutions.
- Control violent and/or mentally ill AIC; prepare daily count and AIC assignment sheets.
- Respond to backup calls for medical, AIC assaults and other emergency situations.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of two years combined full-time work/volunteer experience, military service and/or education.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be a United States citizen or able to obtain citizenship to attend academy.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license by time of appointment.
- Must pass a thorough background investigation.
