About the role
- Grow and sustain the Wildfire Resilience Funders (WRF) network and shepherd day-to-day activities
- Plan and implement the members' learning agenda for bi-monthly virtual and annual in-person convenings
- Plan and facilitate bi-monthly Advisory Committee and network-wide virtual meetings
- Organize, plan, and participate in annual WRF in-person convenings and other events with partners and funders
- Work collaboratively with CRF leadership, program, and communications staff on funder relations, external communications, and fundraising
- Manage membership dues administration and related processes
- Cultivate and build relationships with foundation professionals, nonprofit leaders, federal agency personnel, and local/regional officials
- Undertake an independent research project relevant to the WRF network and CRF mission
- Develop monthly work plans and participate in regular one-on-one meetings with the Managing Director
- Support development of network fundraising strategies and assist with proposals, reimbursements, and meeting preparations
- Represent CRF and WRF externally and advocate for climate and wildfire resilience
- Participate in CRF/WRF strategic planning, internal work planning, legal compliance, and operations as directed
- Report to CRF's Managing Director
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in philanthropy (ideally including program strategy development, implementation, and management)
- Experience with board relations and/or managing a committee of advisors
- Experience working with the non-profit sector and with government agencies and personnel
- Excellent people skills and experience as an engaging, active networker
- Experienced facilitator and comfortable with public speaking
- Advanced active listening and strong verbal and written communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously while engaging team members
- Familiarity with norms of management and finances of nonprofit organizations and private philanthropies
- Experience working closely with philanthropy and familiarity with foundations addressing climate change, resilience, or sustainability
- Working knowledge of climate change science and policy, wildfire issues, and conservation science/policy
- Desire to build relationships and ability to create consensus
- Personal qualities: honesty, integrity, and commitment to helping communities and ecosystems adapt to climate change
- Comfortable adopting new technology and working in a virtual, paperless environment
- Ability to work between 25-32 hours per week and be based in western or mountain time zone
