About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise the layout, assembly and installation of various types and sizes of sheet metal duct
  • Solve job-related problems and escalate accordingly
  • Inventory material
  • Direct work activities and organize resource scheduling
  • Assess manpower and material needed for tasks
  • Manage and direct crews of 2 to 15 workers
  • Plan tasks for the crew
  • Read blueprints and equipment packaging lists for assembly
  • Coordinate and communicate with customers, owners' representatives, trade partners, and subcontractors
  • Work with a variety of tools, large machines, and specialty equipment
  • Support the Superintendent and Project Manager to complete projects on time
  • Deliver quality and productive work
  • Follow, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Company

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and some weekends
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have reliable form of communication
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must show up on time in appropriate attire and professionally present yourself
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial mechanical sheet metal experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisor experience
  • Basic technology skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly with the superintendent and follow directions
  • Ability to communicate clearly with general contractors, customers, design engineers, and other trades
  • Knowledge of HVAC and ductwork installation, including rectangular ductwork, round ductwork, fire dampers, smoke dampers, roof curbs, curb adapters, HVAC equipment, rooftop units, split systems, air handlers, and condensate drains
  • Extensive knowledge of sheet metal installation and repairs and sheet metal duct system fabrication and repair
  • Ability to understand and interpret product submittal data
  • Ability to read and interpret MEP plans
  • Ability to understand and use a ductulator
  • General knowledge of ductwork airflow and static pressure
  • Ability to draw and lay out sheet metal ductwork
  • Understanding of or ability to reference SMACNA duct construction standards
  • General knowledge of applicable codes and practices
  • Knowledge of local codes and standards
  • High school graduate or equivalent, work experience
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required
  • Must successfully pass a background check and drug test
  • Ability to meet the physical demands, including standing, walking, reaching, gripping, stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, climbing, and lifting
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. solo occasionally, up to 25 lbs. constantly, and handle material lifting requirements up to 115 lbs. occasionally
