About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide support to the Director of Trade Compliance on trade compliance related requirements, company policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects with other internal business partners and trade compliance team members to ensure Mouser’s activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements and align with strategic objectives.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of working instructions, policies, and procedures to manage trade compliance programs.
  • Validate HTS, export classification, country of origin, customs valuation, and free trade agreements. Support evaluation to minimize duty/tariff impacts on company operations.
  • Provide assistance on all import related activities, including broker performance, FTZ activities, duty drawback program, free trade agreements, etc.
  • Serve as a resource in export license determination, draft and apply for licenses/permits needed to support Mouser’s operations, and ensure authorizations are managed compliantly.
  • Provide expertise on export related activities. Perform restricted party screening and transaction reviews.
  • Support internal controls for compliance, conduct audits, and identify deficiencies.
  • Prepare and gather data to support post entry correction, post shipment verification, and/or government inquiries.
  • Assist in creating and delivering internal trade compliance training.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 3 years experience in U.S. import/customs, export controls, and sanctions laws.
  • Knowledge/experience of U.S. Customs Regulations, U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
  • Detailed and thorough in work habits with high multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Work independently and remain flexible, with the ability to prioritize workloads and maintain resilient attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Ability to take initiative, anticipate problems, and work collaboratively with the flexibility to adapt.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret regulations and apply business acumen to daily import and export operations.
  • Background in the electronic industry is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Global Trade Management and Denial Party Screening.
