About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Structure and maintain Motz’s data governance operating model and roadmap, defining principles, policies, roles, forums, processes, controls and prioritization criteria.
- Inventory domains, products, databases, tables, reports and critical data, defining Data Owners, Data Stewards, technical owners, criticality, purpose of use and lifecycle.
- Administer and evolve governance mechanisms in the Databricks Unity Catalog, including catalogs, schemas, tables, volumes, metadata, tags, lineage, permissions, shares and organizational standards.
- Design and operate the data access lifecycle, applying least privilege, segregation of duties, corporate groups, approvals, periodic reviews, recertification and access revocation.
- Lead data classification for public, internal, confidential, personal and sensitive data in partnership with Information Security and Legal, ensuring compliance with LGPD and corporate policies.
- Implement and maintain a business glossary, data dictionary, naming standards, rules documentation, technical and functional metadata and asset certification criteria.
- Map and validate end-to-end lineage and traceability, identifying source, transformation, consumption, dependencies, impacts and data owners for critical data.
- Define the data quality framework, establishing dimensions, rules, thresholds, SLAs, scorecards, monitoring, exception handling and acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate the identification, recording, prioritization and resolution of data issues, bridging business, Data Engineering and other teams responsible for remediation.
- Support Power BI governance by mapping datasets, semantic models, official reports and KPIs to certified data, with access control, ownership and reduction of duplication.
- Create and maintain policies and standards for creating, publishing, sharing, retaining, disposing and using data in analytics, AI, automation and integrations.
- Build and develop the network of Data Owners and Data Stewards, promoting training, rituals, communication, clear responsibilities and adoption of governance practices.
- Conduct periodic audits and compliance assessments, producing evidence, access reports, risk analyses, action plans and follow-up on recommendations.
- Assess risks, exceptions and data usage requests, proposing compensating controls and escalating decisions to the appropriate forums when necessary.
- Define and communicate governance, quality, access, cataloging, certification, usage and maturity indicators, preparing executive reports and recommendations for leadership.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics or related fields.
- Solid experience in data and analytics, preferably in data governance, metadata management, data quality, data security, cataloging or related functions.
- Mandatory hands-on experience with Databricks and Unity Catalog, including organizing catalogs and schemas, managing permissions, groups, tags, metadata, lineage, auditing and access controls.
- Experience implementing or evolving processes for cataloging, glossary, data dictionary, classification, data ownership, stewardship, data quality and issue management.
- Proven experience working closely with Data Engineering, Information Security, Legal, Architecture, BI teams and business areas, translating policies into operational controls.
- Autonomy and hands-on approach.
- Strategic vision, creativity and proactivity.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic environments.
- Postgraduate degree or specialization in Data Governance, Data Management, Information Security, Privacy, Analytics or related areas.
- Experience with Power BI governance, semantic models, certified datasets, workspaces, apps, RLS, publishing and access control is a significant plus.
- Experience in logistics, transportation, finance, credit, customer service, high-volume operations or regulated environments.
- Databricks, DAMA/CDMP, Microsoft Purview or Azure certifications are also valued.
