The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the public safety design and implementation of solutions for Motorola’s ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for State and Local government agencies
Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers, mobile backhaul and WAN and CEN networks
High level of customer and consultant interaction involving customer design reviews, customer witnessed staging and acceptance testing events, coverage acceptance testing, live system upgrades, and troubleshooting efforts
System buildout, configuration and acceptance testing in both lab staging and field environments
Radio coverage testing, frequency analysis and interference mitigation
Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry)
Preparation of system fleet map, encryption and radio programming templates
Complete system documentation
Live system cutovers and upgrades

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or technical discipline and 5+ years of engineering or technical experience OR 8 years of engineering or technical experience
Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required
Radio Frequency Engineering principles
Land / Mobile Radio Engineering principles
RFDS principles to include antenna and cable selection, transmit combiners, receive multi-couplers, and lightning protection systems
Experience with Motorola ASTRO 25 architecture is a plus
Servers and related systems including VMware ESXI, Linux, and Microsoft operating systems
Knowledge of remote communication sites construction including site selection, grounding, compound development, tower and shelter requirements
Knowledge with point-to-point Microwave systems and Microwave RF & Network design
Certifications a plus through CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar a plus.
