About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Define the direction and initiatives for the team and platform
  • Strategize and build fully automated bootstrapping and delivery pipelines
  • Advance self-service engineering technologies and approaches
  • Improve the local development experience while maintaining consistency
  • Build self-healing infrastructure for fast, robust automated testing
  • Improve the performance and reliability of existing systems
  • Host Brown Bag sessions, demos, and other activities to drive adoption and collaboration
  • Coach and mentor team engineers and collaborate on designs
  • Build systems and automation serving as the development, build, and delivery backbone of Motive’s SaaS, Mobile, and Embedded/IoT products
  • Support Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python, Kotlin, and C services and products

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6+ years engineering experience
  • B.S. Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Experience building CI/CD infrastructure with multiple pipeline solutions such as Tekton, Prow, CircleCI, Jenkins, Spinnaker, or GitHub Actions
  • Experience improving the SDLC release process
  • Experience streamlining microservice creation mechanisms
  • Experience streamlining developers’ local environments using Ansible, local Kubernetes, or similar tools
  • Expertise in Git flow and versioning strategy
  • Experience facilitating reproducible builds across an organization
  • Experience practicing and advocating for engineering best practices
  • Experience improving developer experience with multiple stakeholders in a large organization
  • Experience with Golang, Ruby on Rails, Python, or similar languages
  • Working knowledge of AWS services and technologies
  • Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management, including Terraform, Ansible, or Helm
  • Experience with large-scale distributed release management processes
  • Experience with containerized environments and orchestration frameworks such as Kubernetes
  • Applicant must be authorized to receive and access commodities and technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations
  • Bonus: experience with Gerrit and Android OS (AOSP) build systems
  • Bonus: experience with embedded systems builds and compiles
