About the role

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of LTE-M, NB-IoT, and 5G features for embedded platforms
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and mentor, guiding team members on best practices for wireless development, modem firmware updates (FOTA), and debugging network registration and data session activation.
  • Collaborate with product, hardware, and mobile teams to define end-to-end connectivity requirements and solutions, including SIM/eSIM management and device provisioning.
  • Debug, optimize, and validate wireless protocols and firmware across multi-core embedded systems and mobile OS environments, with a focus on power consumption and data throughput.
  • Design and implement automated testing frameworks for LTE certification (e.g., PTCRB, GCF) and interoperability testing.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, such as 3GPP specifications, low-power wide-area networks (LPWAN), and cellular V2X, ensuring Motive products remain cutting-edge.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in wireless connectivity or embedded software development, with significant focus on Wireless LTE, 5G, and modem connectivity.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Strong programming experience in C/C++ for embedded systems, and Java/Kotlin/Swift for mobile platforms.
  • Deep expertise in LTE/5G stacks, protocols (IP, UDP, TCP), and performance optimization, including QoS parameters.
  • Experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Hands-on experience with iOS and Android APIs related to modem and LTE connectivity (e.g., TelephonyManager, CellularGateway, NetworkExtension frameworks).
  • Understanding of wireless coexistence challenges and mitigation strategies (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
  • Familiarity with network simulation tools and RF lab equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers, network emulators).
