About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Be familiar with utility-scale solar and BESS project designs, including single-line drawings, mechanical, civil, structural, and electrical site plans, and equipment layout
  • Understand the construction applications of solar power plant design, racking/tracker design, and powering
  • Have direct and relevant experience with the latest solar and battery storage equipment, including solar panels, inverters/transformers, racking systems, and battery systems
  • Ability to review scope of work documents and analyze the design implications of different requirements
  • Own portions of the project lifecycle — from design to construction support
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members on the Engineering Team for a Senior-level Project Engineer
  • Comfortable traveling across the country to perform site visits and provide technical support to construction teams
  • Support field teams with various technical requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical field, or related discipline is required – civil or mechanical engineering degree preferred
  • 0-1+ years' experience as a Project Engineer and 2+ years’ experience as a Senior Project Engineer in the solar construction industry or direct engineering management on solar construction projects - solar experience is required
  • Knowledge of racking, materials, and methods of construction in power systems is a plus
  • Proven ability to work across multiple systems and manage design documentation is a plus
  • Familiarity with CAD workflows and construction standards is a plus
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
  • Good communication and presentation skills, including the ability to organize and present complex technical information effectively in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - required
  • Knowledge of foundation design is a plus
  • Geotechnical knowledge is a plus
  • Highly organized and able to multitask multiple projects at once
  • Knowledge of QGIS or other GIS software is a plus
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Fusion or other 3D Design software is a plus
  • Up to 10% of travel to visit our project sites is required.
