About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead project teams during design phases to achieve schedule alignment, integrated team experience, and construction readiness
  • Establish and manage project budgets, scopes, budget trending logs, and related communications
  • Support design-phase cost issue resolution and develop project margin plans
  • Create and manage project schedules and key milestones
  • Lead permitting and code-compliance due diligence and ensure regulatory approvals and permits are obtained
  • Manage proposals and design phases in alignment with estimates and RFPs
  • Coordinate proposal processes during active RFPs
  • Align design documents and project execution plans with stakeholders
  • Identify and resolve technical design and specification concerns
  • Manage and attend project site visits during pursuit and design phases
  • Coordinate design reviews with the Virtual Design and Construction team
  • Handle bid packages and contract manuals
  • Coordinate design-phase meetings with owners, design partners, and internal teams
  • Support negotiations with owners, designers, and trade partners
  • Coordinate Risk and Legal review of EPC agreements and key exhibits
  • Ensure timely constructability reviews
  • Mentor and guide design-phase team engineers and project/field engineers
  • Manage project transition to the project management team
  • Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
  • Lead by example, coach team members, and manage performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  • Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills
  • Positive and professional attitude and strong customer service skills
  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback

  • Must be currently legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship for an employment visa
