About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop relationships with suppliers: solicit bids, analyze quotations, and select suppliers
- Purchase items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, and other factors
- Create and maintain catalogs for each operating group or project that is supported
- Propose purchase transactions that higher authority approve prior to final action
- Source and qualify suppliers for new products and components
- Coordinate procurement activities from concept through production launch
- Arrange returns for unacceptable products to suppliers
- Track order status from time of placing order until delivery and communicate status to project teams
- Enter purchase orders and retain contact with suppliers to ensure delivery of material on a timely basis
- Train project teams to effectively utilize procurement system
- Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- All other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience
- Current driver’s license
- Knowledge of construction processes, equipment and materials, purchasing processes and procedures
- New product introduction and product lifecycle management process experience
- Strategic sourcing and category management principles
- Negotiating, organizing, planning, verbal and communication skills
- Manage multiple R&D projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Analyze complex data and make sound business decisions under time constraints
- Drive alignment across cross functional teams with competing priorities
- Adapt quickly to changing product requirements and market conditions
- Strong customer service and analytical skills
- Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
