About the role

  • Responsible for a portfolio of large UK and international groups and individual companies, both privately owned and PE backed, reporting under UK GAAP and IFRS.
  • Report directly to Partners and Directors.
  • Day-to-day contact with the MKS team, clients, HMRC and other professional advisors.
  • Manage all aspects of audit management: job planning, budgeting, time management, delegating and supervising team members, monitoring progress, and managing projects.
  • Conduct detailed review of files, debrief teams with a focus on feedback, and finalise files for RI review.
  • Lead client meetings at planning and completion stages and throughout the audit as required.
  • Tax compliance where required and liaise with Tax Specialists; subsequent submission to HMRC and Companies House.
  • Promote the interests of the firm with colleagues, clients, prospective clients and other third parties.
  • Motivate and encourage team, provide timely constructive feedback, produce training material and present to trainees on media sector topics.
  • Assist with new client pitches and proposals and contribute to the Media Annual Survey.
  • Awareness of wider firm teams and cross-selling opportunities; all aspects of client billing.

Requirements

  • Relevant Accounting Qualification such as ACA or ACCA.
  • Expertise in delivery of the primary accounting frameworks (UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102 and IFRS).
  • At least 2 years’ experience managing group and individual audits.
  • Experience managing both people and an audit-focused portfolio.
  • Experience in group reporting (both as group auditor and component auditor).
  • Commercially aware and able to apply and communicate technical knowledge clearly and commercially.
  • Commitment to client care and service beyond expectation.
  • Commitment to CPD and technical competence.
  • Ability to give feedback in a constructive manner.
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail, adaptable and flexible.
  • Interpersonal skills and experience mentoring, training and managing junior staff.
  • Ability to use IT and knowledge of Caseware, CCH, Excel, Word and PowerPoint (useful but not essential).
