Business and Financial Advisory Director – Construction

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Overseeing projects including weekly, monthly, and year-end close processes, management reporting and preparing reconciliations;
- Maintaining fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Designing, implementing, and/or converting systems for clients
- Calculating and reporting indirect taxes
- Helping clients prepare cash flow and or financial projections
- Reviewing client's payroll and benefits processing and 1099 preparation
- Advising clients on both tactical and strategic financial decisions
- Serving in an outsourced or contracted interim/fractional Controller or CFO role
- Troubleshooting client issues as they arise
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA license a plus
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 6 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Hands-on experience in the construction industry, either directly within a construction company, or supporting construction clients in a public accounting or advisory environment
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Desktop and/or Online and advanced Excel
- Experience preparing Sales & Use Tax returns, preferred
- Experience with one or more of the following systems: Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Sage 50 (Peachtree), Sage 100 (Master Builder), Sage 300 (Timberline), SYSPRO, SAP Business One, Fixed asset management software, ProSystems Fx Engagement
- Experience supporting core accounting operations, including payroll processing and related tax compliance
- Ability and willingness to travel to client locations as needed
- Proven ability to navigate diverse client challenges and deliver practical, value-driven solutions across multiple industries
- Strong consultative mindset with a client-service orientation
- Exceptional communication skills—clear, proactive, and detail-oriented (verbal and written)
- Self-directed, autonomous, and highly motivated with a strong sense of ownership
