About the role
- Architect, design, and develop high-performance, isolated DC-DC power converters (200V-10kV working voltage) and power systems within a power range of 100W to 10kW.
- Design and specify custom transformers and inductors, optimizing for performance, cost, and manufacturability, with a focus on both galvanic and capacitive isolation techniques to meet safety and noise requirements.
- Ensure all designs comply with stringent international safety requirements for telecom, AI, ATE, and satellite applications (e.g., UL/IEC/EN 60950-1, 62368-1, and specific space-level standards).
- Interface with and program onboard microprocessors and system managers for power supply control, monitoring, fault logging, and system communication (e.g., PMBus, I2C).
- Design for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), developing strategies to mitigate EMI and conducted noise to meet CISPR/FCC Class A and B standards.
- Develop and implement current sharing techniques for multi-phase and parallelable power modules to achieve scalable power solutions.
- Lead the technical execution of projects, including schematic capture, PCB layout supervision, prototyping, and validation testing. Hands-on experience with module and PCB assembly, rework, and debugging is essential.
- Perform detailed failure analysis, identify common failure modes (e.g., transformer saturation, FET avalanche, gate drive issues, thermal runaway), and implement robust design prevention strategies.
- Design and execute validation test plans, including the use of Automated Test Equipment (ATE) for production testing and characterization.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical engineering, firmware, manufacturing and the business management teams to ensure a successful product launch.
Requirements
- B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 7+ years of direct experience in the design and development of isolated switch-mode power supplies (SMPS).
- Proven expertise in transformer design for high-frequency power conversion, including core selection, winding techniques, and isolation barrier design.
- In-depth understanding of galvanic and capacitive isolation standards, design practices, and validation methods.
- Strong knowledge of microprocessor/microcontroller integration for power control, including programming and debugging skills (C/C++ or similar).
- Demonstrable experience designing to meet safety and EMC requirements for Telecom, AI, ATE, and/or Satellite applications.
- Proficiency in simulating, modeling, and mitigating EMI and conducted noise.
- Hands-on experience with power supply prototyping, module and PCB assembly, soldering, and debugging.
- Understand all DC/DC architectures and topologies: ex. Buck-boost, flyback, current mode, COT, etc.
- Familiarity with current sharing techniques and N+1 redundant power architectures.
- Experience with power levels ranging from 100W to 10kW.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence).
- Experience with power electronics simulation tools (e.g., PSIM, Simplis).
Benefits
- Health insurance
- Flexible working hours
- Professional development opportunities
