About the role

  • Support and assist the Service Medical Director – Monash Newborn in the provision of a high quality neonatal service.
  • Provide clinical leadership in patient care to ensure we achieve excellent care and timely communication with family and other care providers.
  • Provide supervision of trainee doctors, neonatal nurse practitioners and medical students and support open communication, including escalation of clinical and non-clinical matters.
  • Be immediately available for urgent consultation and assistance in resuscitation and subsequent management of critically ill patients.
  • Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team, with open communication and collaborative working relationships.
  • Actively participate in Quality and Safety and Quality Improvement processes to ensure that patients receive high quality services and continuity of care.

Requirements

  • Be a legally qualified medical practitioner, registered or registrable with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College or Physicians (RACP), with subspecialty qualification in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine, or equivalent, including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration.
  • Formal qualification in clinician-performed ultrasound is desirable.
