About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver live, virtual ACT prep instruction via Zoom to a full cohort of 10–25 students
Teach ACT English, Math, Reading, and Science content and test-taking strategies
Use Studyville's provided ACT guides, curriculum, materials, and sample/practice tests; no independent lesson planning required
Review pretest results to guide instructional emphasis
Adjust pacing and strategy to meet cohort target scores and areas of need
Administer the post-test during the final session
Follow the provided ACT scope and sequence
Track attendance and daily student progress, including practice test scores
Document participation and engagement concerns and communicate them to the ACT Program Coordinator
Foster student confidence, ownership, and academic leadership
Communicate student progress and score trends to students, families, and/or school staff as needed

Requirements

What you’ll need

Personal ACT composite score of 33 or higher, achieved within the past 12 months, with an official score report available for verification
Comfortable and confident teaching ACT content and test-taking strategy in a live virtual setting
Demonstrated ability to help students meaningfully raise their scores
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and fingerprinting as required by Louisiana state law
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Reliable access to a computer or device with a functioning camera and microphone
Stable high-speed internet connection
Prior experience tutoring, teaching, or coaching students in ACT or other test prep (preferred)
Prior experience teaching in a live virtual/online setting (preferred)
Current teaching certification (preferred)
Deep, current familiarity with ACT content, format, and pacing
Strong instructional and test-taking strategy skills
Reliable, punctual, and professional
Ability to motivate students working toward a specific score goal
Clear communication with students, families, and staff
Comfortable engaging and managing a full class of students in a live virtual format
Quiet, distraction-free space for the full duration of each live session
Comfort and proficiency using the Zoom platform
