About the role
- Perform engineering design tasks for roadway, municipal, rail and port projects from preliminary to final design
- Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
- Begin to foster relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT and state clients, as well as private clients
- Provide engineering design services for traditional design and design-build highway projects
- Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans
- Assist in coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
- Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
- Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective actions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation related engineering; required
- 0 to 2 years of experience designing transportation/roadway engineering projects; required
- Previous internship experience; preferred
- EIT licensure or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date; required
- Software experience required: Microstation/Geopak, OpenRoads Designer Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe Acrobat
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation); required
- Availability and willingness to travel
