About the role
- Researches, identifies, and recommends industry best practices for solving business problems
- Navigates from high-level business visions through mid-level systems requirements to low-level implementation considerations and back
- Identifies candidate solution approaches and models cost-benefit tradeoffs
- Provides recommendations on buy-vs-build decisions and vendor analysis
- Offers 3rd party solution alternatives and current best practices
- Creates shared direction and community among technical teams
- Mentors team members and influences technology direction
- Develops clear solution documentation to support stakeholder sign-off and guide high-level design
- Reviews high-level design documents and ensures alignment with the solution summary
- Supports architecture and application delivery through project lifecycle
- Engages in transitional architecture planning for system migrations
- Leverages broad technical expertise to remove project roadblocks
- Aligns technology investments with strategic business vision
- Maintains a strategic architecture repository with intellectual assets such as roadmaps and state models
- Owns and drives Application Portfolio Management and Rationalization initiatives
- Collaborates across business units and technologies to foster alignment and eliminate silos
- Acts as a key advisor within the Office of the CTO
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field required
- Seven (7)+ years of experience in IT roles such as Lead System Analyst or Systems Architect
- AWS Solution Architect Associate certification required
- AWS Solution Architect Professional certification preferred
- Experience writing functional and technical specifications used by development teams
- Background in the full software development lifecycle, including Agile, Waterfall, and Iterative methodologies
- Experience with modern software architecture practices including Event Driven Architecture and Domain Driven Design
- Intermediate data modeling experience—both logical and physical
- Experience designing and troubleshooting interfaces
- Strong ability to solve problems using critical thinking and reasoning
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence at all levels of an organization
- Strong Microsoft Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Proven ability to work under pressure and deliver accurately
- Broad technical knowledge across infrastructure, cloud platforms (especially AWS), DevOps, security, and networking
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-relevant content
- Strong executive presence and ability to interact with CxO-level leadership
