About the role
- Partner closely with Operations, HR, EHS, Quality, and site leadership to develop communications that educate, engage, and reflect the realities of a fast-moving manufacturing environment
- Build strong relationships with frontline teams—manufacturing employees, shift supervisors, and site support functions
- Create and execute communication strategies for key manufacturing initiatives, including corporate information, operational excellence efforts, workforce engagement, site readiness, and cultural improvements
- Support and align communications across sites and divisions
- Lead communication efforts for employee surveys, focus groups, and two-way listening programs
- Manage and evolve internal digital signage, tools aimed at this audience, and intranet pages
- Produce compelling stories from the shop floor, highlighting innovation, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement
- Travel periodically to key sites to capture frontline insights
- Support crisis or urgent operational communications
- Advise leaders and supervisors on communication best practices tailored to shift-based, production-focused audiences
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in internal communications, manufacturing communications, employee engagement, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree required (Communications, Journalism, PR, Business, or a related field preferred) or equivalent, relevant experience
- Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex operational or technical information into messages that are clear, human, and meaningful
- Hands-on experience with digital communication tools, including digital signage, intranet platforms, newsletters, and live or recorded town halls
- Comfort and credibility working inside manufacturing environments
- Strong relationship-building skills, especially with operations leaders, supervisors, shift teams, and support functions
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, global environment, balancing multiple priorities with calm, clarity, and organization
