About the role
- Identify and source materials and services needed for facility operations.
- Negotiate prices, terms, and contract with supplier to ensure cost-effective procurement.
- Manage purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality or delivery.
- Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to ensure adequate inventory levels.
- Analyze usage patterns and forecast future demand to optimize inventory.
- Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and obsolescence.
- Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for potential savings.
- Assist in budget preparation and monitor spending against budgeted amounts.
- Report on purchasing activities, costs, and supplier performance to management.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and supply chain management.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve efficiency.
- Stay informed about industry trends and innovations in procurement.
- Negotiates terms and conditions with suppliers and coordinates with legal when required.
- Travel up to 10%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university; and as a minimum three (3) years of procurement experience in the power generation industry; or, eight(8) years of procurement experience; or, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities has been achieved.
- MBA/ ISM/ APCIS Members/ CSCM or CPIM, preferred.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, engineering drawings, engineering specifications for material, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and must not require employer immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
