About the role
- Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
- Process, review, and validate payroll for multiple pay groups or entities on a biweekly/monthly basis
- Ensure employees are paid on time and correctly
- Serve as SME for payroll system transition
- Develop and document internal payroll processes and procedures
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and tax regulations
- Research and resolve complex payroll issues, including garnishments, adjustments, retroactive pay, and off-cycle payments
- Serve as a liaison with HR, Finance, IT, and third-party payroll providers
- Prepare and reconcile payroll-related reports including journal entries and payroll registers
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations
- Lead or assist in payroll projects such as system upgrades, vendor transitions, and automation initiatives
- Train and mentor other HR team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and process consistency
- Continuously evaluate payroll processes to identify and implement improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including system implementation and configuration
- Experience with large-scale payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, UKG, SAP, Oracle) required
- Multi-state and/or global payroll experience preferred
- In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, labor laws, and tax requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Excel and payroll systems reporting tools
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred
