About the role
- Control Systems Design Engineers design and implement enhancements for electronic control systems on Mitsubishi and non-OEM gas turbines.
- Responsibilities include developing proposals, creating implementation packages, and providing technical service support to improve operability and reliability.
- Service activities involve troubleshooting operating issues, adjusting control settings, modifying logic, and upgrading hardware components such as CPUs, data highways, software, and electronic devices.
- This is an intermediate position requiring knowledge of control and electrical engineering principles and their practical application.
- Engineers are expected to perform standard assignments independently, exercise some technical authority, and take on increasingly complex tasks under the guidance of senior engineers or management.
- Prepare design standards and implementation documents, including logic descriptions, SAMA drawings, specifications, test plans, and as-built drawings.
- Review operational data using PI, Excel, or similar tools to benchmark and develop control system improvements.
- Perform root cause analysis and recommend logic or hardware improvements (HMIs, CPUs, software, instruments, actuators).
- Provide technical guidance to field service teams on Diasys UPV & Netmation, Ovation, and WDPF systems.
- Coordinate with engineers to align on logic and hardware modifications and ensure unified applications.
- Support ISO 9001 audits, maintain documentation standards, and ensure products meet Mitsubishi Power and customer requirements.
- Suggest product/service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction.
- Assist in developing and guiding junior engineers (Control Systems Service Engineer I).
Requirements
- MS (preferred) or BS degree in Computer Science, Controls, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university, or a minimum of eight (8) years directly related work experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- A minimum of three (3) years of work experience, including logic programming and hardware configuration associated digital control systems is required (some work credit may be given for MS or PhD degrees based on the relevancy of course and related project experience).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as industry reports and technical journals.
- Ability to write technical reports and correspondence including customer reports.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to customers, clients, vendors and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to perform necessary calculations to satisfy job requirements.
- Ability to make judgment decisions based on specifications or technical requirements.
- Advanced personal computer skills including graphics (Visio, etc), MatLab, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access), etc.
