About the role
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices for MHIA and its regional affiliates.
- Perform functions to ensure compliance with legal standards and policies.
- Utilize established internal controls and auditing systems to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance within MHIA and select affiliate companies.
- Administer policies and procedures that ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
- Analyze internal business systems to ensure compliance with industry regulations and ethical standards.
- Create, modify, update, implement, and monitor the company’s policies.
- Conduct compliance tests or audits and report findings to the executive team.
- Design control systems to address cases of violation of internal business policies.
- Conduct thorough investigations into allegations of illegal, unethical, or improper behavior by employees or company representatives.
- Continuously monitor regulatory enviornment and implement changes to compliance processes based on new or amended regulations.
- Design and support the implementation of ongoing training programs for employees at all levels of the organization.
- Liaise with departmental heads and compliance leaders at other MHI affiliates in the Americas.
- Advise top management regarding business risk and mitigation.
- Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulator agencies (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and manage all reporting, permitting, and compliance documentation.
- Develop, implement, and maintain environmental health and safety (EHS) programs, procedures, and training to promote a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Risk Management and HR to integrate EHS best practices into daily operations.
- Track and report key EHS metrics and performance indicators to senior leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS culture and reduce environmental impact.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Legal Studies, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in the compliance field within highly regulated industries.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with regulator bodies and responding to inquiries or inspections.
- Understanding of relevant federal, state, and international regulations such as OSHA, EPA, GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, FCPA, AML, OFAC, EAR, ITAR, and other relevant frameworks.
- Familiarity with industry-specific compliance standards and best practices.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships through strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities; adept at identifying risks and proposing practical solutions.
