Maintains, repairs, and overhauls ships' elevator and conveyor systems, including cargo and weapons elevators, dumbwaiters, and vertical package conveyors
Assembles, installs, aligns, and tests systems to ensure they are fully operational and ready to support U.S. Navy operations
Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors, and providing work direction to others
Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools
Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks
Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports
Schedules, reports, and briefs customers and senior management
May perform quality inspections on finished products
Performs duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignments
Requirements
High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience
Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
Must have experience with utilizing standard mechanic’s tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision measuring instruments, fixtures, portable machine tools, and various gauges
Must be able to read, interpret, and understand technical references, data, ship drawings, equipment technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and sketches
Must be able to identify materials and parts requiring replacement on equipment, components and subassemblies
Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding and platforms, and where system equipment is hard-to-reach places, requiring the need to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC ID base access and DoD Secret Security Clearance.
