About the role
- Maintains, repairs, and overhauls ships' elevator and conveyor systems, including cargo and weapons elevators, dumbwaiters, and vertical package conveyors
- Assembles, installs, aligns, and tests systems to ensure they are fully operational and ready to support U.S. Navy operations
- Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors, and providing work direction to others
- Completes comprehension of specialty trades functions and tools
- Performs a variety of complicated and non-routine tasks
- Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports
- Schedules, reports, and briefs customers and senior management
- May perform quality inspections on finished products
- Performs duties outside of specialty to complete installation or work assignments
Requirements
- High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 4 years of related experience
- Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
- Must have experience with utilizing standard mechanic’s tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision measuring instruments, fixtures, portable machine tools, and various gauges
- Must be able to read, interpret, and understand technical references, data, ship drawings, equipment technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and sketches
- Must be able to identify materials and parts requiring replacement on equipment, components and subassemblies
- Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolding and platforms, and where system equipment is hard-to-reach places, requiring the need to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CAC ID base access and DoD Secret Security Clearance.
